Conditions of participation
Everyone aged over 18 years is eligible to register and to participate. It’s not necessary to be a member of an athletics club. The participant declares to be physically healthy and that no medical concerns exist which prevent him/her from participating in a long distance obstacle course.
Registration/Participation Limit
The number of participants is limited. If the limit is exceeded, the starting field will be closed, however, all starters, whose registration could not be taken into consideration have the possibility to sign in to a waiting list which can be found on the internet (www.strongmanrun.de). The organiser reserves the right to allow certain starters even afterwards to attend to the run.
Starter fee and Documents
The starter fee amounts to € 79.00 gross and contains the following services: The starter number and the official permission to start, one parking place per participant and the official Finisher Shirt of Brooks. The Finisher Shirt will be given to you only onsite, shipping is not possible. Further gimmicks will be enclosed in your starter package, which will be handed out on Friday 4 Mai 2012 from 12 to 7 pm and on Saturday 5 Mai 2012 from 7.30 to 11.30 am in the ring°boulevard at the Nürburgring.
Registration at a preferential price
All participants who used the pre-registration can register themselves from September 30, 2012 on, which means 10 days before the official registration period starts, to a preferential price of € 75.00. The official registration start will then be at October 10, 2012 to the regular starting fee of € 79.00. As a special thanks for the most faithful StronmanRun fans, Fisherman’s Friend raffles off 50 iPod Shuffle and 150 iTunes vouchers, for the perfect training soundtrack, amongst the 2,500 participants who registered the fastest.
Starter numbers
The starter numbers will be assigned automatically according to the time of registration and will be published in the list of participants on the Internet. When registering online, you can choose an imprint consisting of 10 characters, in addition to the starter number, at an extra charge of € 1.00.
Fixing of the starter numbers
You will receive a one-piece starter number against a coloured background. Please fill out its reverse side immediately for the case of medical emergency. Then fix the starter number with the enclosed fixing pins breast high on the front side of your shirt. You will be disqualified if you make your starter number unreadable, cover it or tear it off.

Pre-Run delivery of the starter kits and textiles.
In the course of the fisherman’s friend StrongmanRun 2012, we offer a pre-run delivery of documents and textiles. Delivery will presumably take place at the beginning of April 2012. Please indicate in the course of the registration if you wish to have your documents and textiles pre-delivered, at an extra charge of € 7.90. If you decide in favour of a pre-run delivery after having registered, please send us an email to strongmanrun@mikatiming.de indicating your family name, first name, starting number, date of birth, booking number and the direct debit authorisation for the amount of € 7.90 for the respective bank account. Once the deadline, which is March 15, 2012, is expired, requests will not be accepted anymore.
Registration & Deadline & cancellation
Registration is only possible via Internet : www.strongmanrun.de. The deadline is 1st April 2012 - midnight. As the number of starters is limited, the organiser reserves the right to close the registration before this date (1st April 2012). The registration cannot be cancelled.
Team evaluation
In addition to fame and glory for all participants, there is also an official team evaluation!!! We are looking for the “Fisherman’s Friend STRONGMANRUN TEAM 2012″. of course, every participant has to be registered. Once you are registered under the same team or club name, you will automatically take part of the team evaluation, for free. The 3 fastest runners of each team will be considered for ranking. The fastest team will be awarded at 3.30 pm during the award ceremony. if you want to join a team or form a new one after having registered, then contact us via email: strongmanrun@mikatiming.de.
If team members chose the pre-run delivery, the team name can only be amended until March 15, 2012, also via email to the above mentioned contact. The deadline for those without pre-run delivery for the amendment of the name is April 15, 2012.
Re-registration & transfer of starter numbers
The rights to start can be transferred to another participants until 1st April 2012 against a fee of € 12.50 on the website www.strongmanrun.de. By means of clinking you name in the online starter list, you open a form which can be used to transfer the registration to an alternative starter.
In the case of this procedure, the starter fee will not be reimbursed - however, the original starter can try to get the amount in question back from the alternative starter. However, the organiser assumes no liability in the case of a transfer procedure.
Addresses and team names can only be amended until April 15, 2012, via email to strongmanrun@mikatiming.de. In the case of pre-run delivery, the deadline for the amendment is March 15, 2012. The starter number cannot be transferred.
We will carry out spot test on the day of the event on order to verify if the starter number corresponds to the registered runner. A non-compliance will result in the immediate disqualification of the runner.
Championchip & Time Measurement
Time is exclusively measured with the ChampionChip of Mika Timing. You can only participate with a ChampionChip - no chip, no start! Both, the “gross” and “net” time will be measured. This means: The gross time begins with the starting shot. The net time, i.e. the personal time, begins when crossing the starting line. Participants can buy a ChampionChip at the price of € 30.00 before the event upon registration or they can use their own ship. At the event itself, there is no possibility to buy the chips anymore. The chip can then be used at any event in the world where time is measured via the chip timing method. If you return the chip on the day of the run at the event site, € 25.00 will be reimbursed. After that day, the chip will not be reimbursed anymore. Please attach the chip securely to the laces of your running shoes, so that the proper time measurement is guaranteed. Please also take care that you cross all mats for time measurement on the track, as missing time intervals will result in disqualification.
Track & Obstacles
The distance of the track will presumably be about 20 kilometres, i.e. 2 laps of 10 kilometres and we intend to provide about 15 obstacles per lap. The final track plan will be published before the event on the website www.strongmanrun.de in addition to dexterity, climbing, jumping and several swimming obstacles, also speed will be necessary to manage the track.
The route also includes gravel pits, forest, as well as uneven ground with potential hidden roots, wires, reinforcing steel, construction debris or stones which surface due to earth erosion, maceration or running over. Slipping hazard constantly exist. We therefore point out that injuries may occur through falls, stumble, twists, slips etc. when overcoming the obstacles. Furthermore, dangers may be caused by falls of other participants thus jeopardizing their co-runners. Therefore we ask you to adjust your running speed and behavior to the visibility conditions, the respective obstacle and to the rush on the track.
Due to the large number of runners, a clear view to the ground is not always provided. In this case, the runner is not allowed to continue to run unimpaired with full speed. You absolutely have to reduce your speed according to the structure of the ground and to the visibility conditions.
All water obstacles will bear information regarding the water temperature. You should note this information under all circumstances. If you enter the water too fast, this may possibly result in shock due to low water temperatures.
More detailed information with regard to the course and all obstacles can be found on the website www.strongmanrun.de. We will report about the set-up of the track on a daily basis and regularly inform you of the latest news.
Time Limit
The track has to be managed within the time limit of 3:30h (your personal net time). Every runner, who fails to finish within this timeframe will be reported as “FAILED” in the final list of results. Nevertheless, the run can be finished by every participant who crosses the finish line until 5 pm, of course.
Regulations and Disqualifications
If an obstacle is not mastered or bypassed or if a participant cannot continue due to injury, the Fisherman’s Friend StrongmanRun has to be considered as “Failed”. The same applies in the case of unfair or unsportsmanlike behavior. In this case, the posts along the track will communicate your starter number via 2-way-radio to the run’s officials. The run may however be continued, but the results for all disqualified runners shall read “FAILED” in the list of results. The posts along the track will control the obstacles, so that the run flows smoothly and according to the rules. The track is designed in such a way that the waiting time in front of each obstacle is kept to an absolute minimum if possible. However, if delays occur for any reason, the organizer expects all participants to behave in a fair manner. Because the run is an obstacle course, safety of the runners has top priority, which may result in delays. The organizer is striving to minimize waiting periods by means of the starting procedure as well as course of the track itself.
The start
You will start in a whole block. The fastest and most ambitious runners preferably line up in the first third of the starting block, those who are relatively fast in the second third of the starting block and those whose only aim is to pass the finish line, no matter in which time, preferably position themselves in the end section of the starting block. In this context, we rely on your fairness.
Many of you asked why we do not let you start in different blocks!? A start in different blocks would result in a totally crowded track, which is what we aim to avoid. Furthermore, we also want to remain democratic and fair to everyone of you, so that no one is forced to start in a group he doesn’t want to start in, because it may be the case that this person is ambitious enough to start among the first runners.
Nevertheless, we changed the fact that we will narrow the start area, so that only few runners can start at the same time.
The race management reserves the right to change the starting procedure, if this results in a better course of the run. Should there be any amendment, we will of course publish it, on time, on www.strongmarun.de.
The Run
The race management center has the right to alter the course or to close individual hurdles at any time. We call on you to behave fairly and with respect, and to help each other to overcome the obstacles. Only fair runners are real StrongmanRunners!
When building up the obstacles, we will take care that there is enough space for the huge amount of participants.
Changing rooms & Showers
Changing rooms as well as showers are at the participant’s disposal on the event area. The organiser assumes no liability for objects stored in the cloakrooms, except for acts of wilful intent or gross negligence of the organiser itself.
Refreshments
Refreshments in form of water and fruits will be handed out at 3 supplying stations along the track. Furthermore, sufficient foods and drinks will be provided in the finisher zone, by our partners.
Medical Assistance
Ambulances, first aid tents as well as paramedics at neuralgic places of the course will provide sufficient medical care for the participants. The German Red Cross is supervising the whole course as well as the starting and finishing area. All doctors and paramedics are authorized to prohibit a runner with signs of injuries and/or overstrain from finishing the run for his own safety. There must not be any medical concerns with regard to the attendance of an long distance run.
Photos
Official photos will me made available in the evening after the run on the website www.strongmanrun.de and will also be provided by our professional partner www.sportograf.com where the photos can be ordered approximately one week after the run. Several photos will be taken of EACH participant.
Trouble & Info Counter
For questions or problems with the chip or the registration data, as well as for the handing out of the starter kits, we will be at your disposal at the Info and Trouble counter during the whole weekend of the run. The Counter will be occupied on Friday 4 May 2012 from 12 to 7 pm in the ring°boulevard and on Saturday from 7.30 am on. Additionally, there will be an info Counter in the pit lane for further questions and requests.
Award Ceremony & awards
As every year before, there are exactly two things to earn in addition to the awards for those runners ranking on the top positions: fame and glory. The award ceremony will presumably take place at 3.30 pm on the stage in the paddock.
Certificate
All participants can retrieve their certificates for free on the website www.strongmanrun.de and can of course print them out.
List of results
The list of the results will be published in the pit line immediately after the run, as well as on Saturday 5 May 2012 on the website www.strongmanrun.de.
Party
In addition to the Warm Up and Pasta Party on Friday in the Eifelstadl and in the “Eifeldorf”, this year for the first time in StrongmanRun History, there will also be a party after the run for the spectators and the runners.
Besides the stage programme in the paddock until 8 pm, the Eifeldorf will open its gates already at 6 pm. The entrance for all other guests will be 10 pm as usual. All participants will have free access to the Eifelstadl with their ring°cards. If there is any change or additional events/parties, this will be published on www.strongmanrun.de.
Getting here
The Nürburgring is located 90 kilometres south-western of Cologne and 60 km north-western of Koblenz. The nearest airports are Köln-Bonn ( 80 km) and Düsseldorf (120km).
The recommended ways are:
From direction Cologne coming: A1 until the end of the autobahn.
From direction Trier respectively Luxemburg coming: A 48 to exit Ulmen
From direction Koblenz respectively Bonn coming: A 61 to exit Wehr
From there on, the Nürburgring is marked and you only have to follow the signs.

Parking area
There are sufficient parking possibilities available for participants and spectators. Please pay attention to the signs for the individual parking sites. Parking for participants is free of charge against presentation of the exit ticket received with the starter kits. Spectators will have to pay €5,00 when leaving the area.
We urgently advise you to arrive very early. We recommend you to come on Saturday and stay overnight at the Nürburgring in order to avoid the stress of traveling on Sunday morning.

Hotels & Lodging
It will give the opportunity at the Nürburgring on adjacent camping areas, in a large hall and in the many hotels and inns to stay.

The organizer assumes no liability for slight negligence. This shall rule for actions taken by the organizer, but also for his representatives, agents or assistants. This however does not apply in case of death, bodily injury or health impairment – in these cases, the statutory provisions shall apply.
I declare, that I am sufficiently trained for the participation in this challenge, that I am physically healthy and that my doctor has confirmed this status. The organizer assumes no liability for health risks and dangers in person of the participant. I know, that I will be disqualified if I modify the official starter number in any way, especially if I cover, deface or make the advertising print unrecognizable. Furthermore, I am not allowed to bring animals to the event area, with the exception of dogs, which need to be leashed. Nürburgring Automotive GmbH and the organizer are practising proactive environmental protection in all corporate sectors. They expect all participants and persons involved to protect the environment. The compliance with all legal regulations in the environmental sector is the basis of the contract. This especially applies to the regulations concerning waste management, soil conservation, water conservation and pollution control. I accept, that the organizer reserves the right to disqualify me from the run in the case of proven violation of the above mentioned obligation. For damages as a result of force majeure, the organizer Fisherman’s Friend (CFP Brands Süßwarenhandels GmbH & Co. KG) cannot be held liable. A reimbursement of the registration or rental costs remain unaffected. The general registration and the direct debiting of the credit cards will be effected by Mika timing GmbH on and for the account of the organizer. In the event that any provision of this agreement shall be invalid or prohibited by law, the other provisions of this agreement shall remain unaffected.
I accept that the personal data indicated in my registration, the pictures, shoots, films and interviews taken of me in connection with my participation in this event may be used, broadcasted and published in radio, television, Internet, commercials, books, photomechanical duplication – films, video tapes, DVDs etc. – without any claim for remuneration on my behalves and that my name can be published in the list of participants and the list of results on www.fishermansfriend.de and can be used within the media coverage. I hereby guarantee, that my date of birth given and all other data given by me are correct.
